TRAINING RULES
LATENESS
If you are late for class, when you step through the door, always ask permission before entering the class, when granted execute the salutation and join the other students.
HYGIENE AND CLEANLINESS
The particiants must show up to class with proper body hygiene:
Have clean training clothes.
Have short finger and toe nails to avoid injuries.
Have your hair tied back to not incomodate you or cause accidents.
Remove your jewlery (earings, rings and necklaces and bracelets).
Chewing gum or any other kinds of foods are forbidden during class time.
A small towell and bottle of water are recommended during class time.
Deodorant is strongly recommended.
HEALTH AND SECURITY
Before participating in any intense physical activity, it is strongly recommended for the student to have had a medical exam be aware of conditions that might impede his or her training.
Capoeira is a psychological practice whose physical movements can be adapted to different situations and body types.
Capoeira Legado Ancestral does not encourage the use of capoeira as a tool for violence. Capoeira is first and foremost a martial art that englobes just as much self-defense, dance, playfulness, combat, fantasy, singing and music. Rules, rituals, traditions are established in accordance with a severe ethics code that the student must respect.
Nonetheless, capoeira can be an intense and rigorous physical activity, that is why Capoeira Legado Ancestral accentuates a safe training based on the foundations of contemporary capoeira: team spirit and cooperative help, friendship, discipline, perseverance, humility, respect of self and of others, confidence, etc. These teachings allow our capoeiristas to gradually develop a healthy spirit in a healthy body.
The kicks, strikes and all moves are dangerous.
All the kicks, strikes, stunts sweeps and take downs must never be executed in the intent of injuring your peers
The student must not hesitate in consulting the teacher if he or she feels an exercise is not good for him or her. Moreover, the student needs to inform the teacher at all times if he or she is experiencing faintness or and injury to prevent any complications of a health condition.
Capoeira Legado Ancestral reserve the right to intervene or to stop any game or training being executed if it is not judged safe. Furthermore, Capoeira Legado Ancestral reserve the right to expel or to refuse to accept a student in class if that particular student contravenes or does not respect the principles of the groups operation.
Capoeira Legado Ancestral frees itself of all responsibility and all damages, losses or thefts of objects, accidents, injuries or deaths caused during a training period or all other activity organized by Capoeira Legado Ancestral.
The student is held responsible of all damages or accidents caused by him or herself or his or her peers to the infrastructure or equipment of the training room or studio; the student therefore should compensate for the reparation or replacement fees.
UNIFORMS
The dress code is clean and appropriate, practical and safe, on top of being a sign of respect for the art. The traditional uniform (white abadás, white t-shirt and cord) is of use at all times, the black kit is tolerated if you own a white one. No excuses for the accustomed participants. The uniform is available upon request to the teacher.
The uniform is mandatory for practice.
